With the UK’s first ever Employee Motivation Day just having taken place on 21st January 2015 a recent new survey carried out by Argos for Business reports that feeling valued is a top priority for a third of hospitality workers with a further two thirds saying that they regard themselves as hard working employees.
January is a key time of the year for people to evaluate job happiness and look at new employment opportunities, especially in the hospitality industry where most workers have been through a busy Christmas and New Year period. Failing to encourage and praise staff for all their hard work and efforts, whether by saying a simple ‘thank you’ or by giving them the chance to leave early can go a long way to making sure that valuable staff are retained.
