Currently a big debate is under discussion between manufacturers about the length of warranty provided on products, but it is duration or the quality of the warranty cover that matters more to buyers?
Warranty terms of 12 months used to be universal across the catering equipment industry but now we are seeing manufacturers extending warranties to 2,3 and even 5 years in the case of Gram. The manufacturers that offer higher warranty durations state that it is because they have confidence in their products, whilst the manufacturers that offer shorter warranties state that their products are established and have a 12 month warranty as word of mouth and reputation proves the build quality.
Some manufacturers warn that the longer warranties are being offered to clinch the sale but then if there is a problem with the machine in the warranty period either the response is extremely slow, or the issue found is not covered under the warranty offered.
Whilst a longer warranty can be a massive benefit to end users it is important to still invest in the maintenance of their equipment. Relying solely on the warranty will mean establishments are basically waiting for their machines to fail , by scheduling planned preventative maintenance visits sites can address potential issues before they arise and avoid costly downtime and breakdowns.
